When thinking of Sri Lanka, most people conjure a picture of the sea, sunsets, fishermen, tea fields and trains cutting through the hillsides. The mountains here were the place of escape from the summer heat for the British colonisers, where they played cricket and drank tea. The landscapes of these areas are usually shown in a blend of orange colours, creating a feeling of warmth and comfort. However, the day we visited was cold and gloomy, showing how the mountains look during the rainy season.
