Rajshahi is a city located in the western part of the country on the border with India. Some time ago wealthy gentlemen, Zamindars, as well as rich Englishmen loved to settle here. Which is why this area has a lot of manor houses, partly destroyed, but still good looking. Nearby there is the oldest surviving Hindu site in Bangladesh called Puthia. In addition to ancient relics I visited small villages, vibrant city markets and green parks. Rajshahi was the basis for writing story about the dying art of rickshaw artists.
Bangladesh’s dying artform
Rajshahi was picked for our story about rickshaw artists and sign painters. The globalisation effects and tourist influence on their jobs and future of rickshaw art.
