Having had a week-long rest at the beach, and en route to Hyderabad, we travelled to the dusty and chaotic Badami, a village known for its rocks, ancient dwellings and monkeys mobs who occasionally loot pedestrians and fruit vendors. Having not changed much since the 7th century Badami might seem the perfect location for cave hippies and backpackers wanting to witness a different side of Indian life. Here a large part of local activities runs in a traditional manner and methods are simple; people wash clothes and themselves in the reservoir and life feels simpler.
